pinnacle of bad game design is when you need to follow an NPC who walks at a different speed than you

I mean if you think about it, it’s more difficult for the designer than you’d initially figure. What if you have the walkspeed be the same? Then the player can’t dawdle or look at other things at all or else they’d fall behind. If the walkspeed for the npc is slightly slower than gamers who don’t like to mess around will get annoyed at how slow they are. And if their walkspeed is faster well then the player will fall behind no matter what. The best way would be to code it to be different based on several factors, but then you just spent way too long on this problem and created a new method that was mostly completely unnecessary

THE SIMPLE SOLUTION IS TO HAVE THE NPC FOLLOW YOU, WITH A QUEST MARKER FOR WHERE YOU NEED TO GO. FUCK. FUCK! THIS MOTHERFUCKER HIRED ME TO PROTECT ME ON HIS RAMBLE THROUGH THE PIT OF DESPAIR, THAT DOESN’T MEAN HE HAS TO WALK 5 FEET IN FRONT OF ME THE ENTIRE TIME. I HAVE A MAP! I KNOW WHERE WE’RE GOING! LET MOMMY KILL THE BALVERINES BEFORE YOU GET YOUR FUCKING FACE CHEWED OFF, CHARLIE! FUCK!!
